Christofer Unger Solheim Executive Chairman

Christofer is a Norwegian serial entrepreneur, and the co-founder and former CEO of Sigma News Ventures. He started out as a project manager in the oil and gas sector and his first big project was developing models to predict expenditure, risk and project delays for the Eurotunnel project.

Since then he has co-founded a series of successful companies:

Nexus management, an IT consultancy
Netcoms, an early web agency which was later acquired by a Nasdaq traded company
2B, which analysed unstructured text and news, and was acquired by Reuters/Dow Jones JV.
Commetric, a media analysis and measurement firm
CommEq Asset Management, a hedge fund manager which generates trading signals from corporate news and delivers world class risk adjusted returns

Christofer's conviction that AI and machine learning will transform the world as dramatically as the Internet did when he started his first companies led to the founding of Sigma News Ventures in 2016 and Metabolize in 2017.

Jesse Moore CEO and Chief Data Scientist

Jesse is our CEO and also leads the data science team. He started out as an engineer in Canada for ExxonMobil, and then worked for a smaller oil exploration company. In both companies he managed projects for downstream, midstream and upstream segments.

In 2013 he started studying data science while developing tools and trading strategies for the stock market in his spare time. Two years later he left the oil sector. He continued as an independent investor while also writing an influential financial column on commodities and economics. With his background in the oil and gas sector, his engineering background, and his passion for data science, he was able to extract unique insights from quantitative and textual information.

Jesse relocated to Europe to apply his skills in the online marketing business, before starting at Sigma News Ventures as their Chief Data Scientist. As Sigma News Ventures acquired Metabolize, Jesse was promoted to CEO for Sigmai.

Mihail Minkovski CFO

Mihail joined Sigma News Ventures as a Financial Controller in 2016. He now serves as a CFO for Sigmai and is also responsible for legal and HR. He is an experienced financial professional with a demonstrated history of working in the IT and telecom industry, managing financials across multiple jurisdictions.

Alexander Belokapov COO

Alex was the first to join the company back when it was all just an idea. Over the years he has been instrumental in building the team and most of the tools we now use. Currently he serves as a COO and also manages the company's data assets. Previously he has put his engineering education and can-do attitude to use in an algorithmic trading hedge fund, and a Media research company.

Peder Andreas Nergaard Head of Sales and Product Management

Andreas joined Sigmai in March 2018 as responsible for the customer facing side of the business. After working in a web agency and co-founding a content management company, he worked in product management in the telecoms sector since 2005. He has overseen the development of several generations of messaging products, making sure the market requirements met the technical quality. His technical background and market oriented mindset makes him an excellent translator between operations and customers.

Chris Shaw Co-founder

Chris founded Sigma News Ventures with Christofer, and serves as a board member of Sigmai.

Chris has spent the last 20 years co-founding and managing companies that have provided software and services to unlock insights from media. He also co-founded 2B and Commetric with Christofer, and today he is the Chairman and CEO of Commetric.

His expertise in marketing, finance, politics, PR, media intelligence and fintech has been built through a number of management and executive roles in both small and large companies, as well as successfully founding a township charity in South Africa.

Anthony Burgess-Webb Board Member

Anthony is a member of Sigmai’s working board. He was formerly the global marketing director of WPP group communications consultancy Hill & Knowlton where he was responsible for research, brand marketing, sales and digital transformation across their worldwide network. He founded and managed the firm’s Technology and global Internet practices and specialised in transnational brand management and corporate communications. He then set up social media metrics consultancy Sociagility. He has co-founded several companies with Christofer including Netcoms, 2B, Commetric and CommEq.
